Verizon Connect review —
Enterprise fleet management and GPS tracking

Verizon Connect is a 7.8/10-rated enterprise fleet management platform best suited for large fleets already in the Verizon ecosystem that need GPS tracking, ELD compliance, and field service dispatch. It offers broad feature coverage but lags behind modern competitors on UX, customer satisfaction, and contract flexibility — requiring 3-year commitments at ~$23.50–$40/vehicle/month.

Is Verizon Connect worth it?

Only if you are already a Verizon Business customer and fleet tracking fits naturally into your existing account. Verizon Connect scores 7.8/10 and delivers reliable GPS tracking and ELD compliance, but the 3-year contracts, dated interface, and 31.6 NPS score are serious red flags. For most fleets shopping in 2026, Samsara (9.3/10) and Motive (9.0/10) offer better features, better support, and more flexibility at competitive pricing.

// Strengths and weaknesses

Pros and cons of Verizon Connect

Verizon Connect’s biggest strengths are its broad feature set, nationwide Verizon network reliability, and brand recognition among enterprise IT buyers. Its main weaknesses are the dated interface, aggressive 3-year contract requirements, and the lowest NPS score (31.6) among major fleet platforms. It is a functional platform that has not kept pace with modern competitors.

Pros
  • Backed by Verizon’s nationwide network — strong cellular coverage for GPS tracking across the US
  • Broad feature set including GPS tracking, ELD compliance, dash cams, field service dispatch, and maintenance
  • Established brand trusted by large enterprise fleets in regulated industries
  • Integration with Verizon Business accounts simplifies billing consolidation for existing Verizon customers
  • Scalable to 50,000+ vehicles for the largest enterprise deployments
Cons
  • Lowest NPS score in the category at 31.6 — far below Samsara (75.6) and Motive (63.4)
  • Mandatory 3-year contracts with full remaining balance due on early termination
  • Dated, clunky user interface that has not been modernized to match Samsara or Motive
  • Aggressive and opaque sales practices — pricing is quote-only with frequent upselling
  • Post-sale customer support is consistently rated as below average
  • AI dash cam capabilities are limited compared to Samsara’s CM32/CM34 and Motive’s AI Omnicam

// Ideal fit

Who should use Verizon Connect?

Verizon Connect is best suited for large enterprise fleets with 10 to 50,000+ vehicles that are already embedded in the Verizon Business ecosystem and want fleet tracking added to their existing account relationship. It is most defensible as a choice when Verizon business discounts, consolidated billing, or internal IT mandates drive the platform decision rather than pure product merit.

Verizon Connect is a reasonable fit if you…

  • Are already a Verizon Business enterprise customer and can negotiate bundled fleet pricing
  • Need a large-scale deployment (1,000+ vehicles) where Verizon’s network coverage is the primary requirement
  • Operate in regulated industries where Verizon’s brand recognition helps with internal procurement approval
  • Are currently locked into a Verizon Connect contract and need to maximize the remaining term

You should look elsewhere if you…

  • Are evaluating fleet platforms on product merit alone — Samsara (9.3/10) and Motive (9.0/10) both score significantly higher
  • Need AI-powered dash cams with accurate real-time coaching — Verizon Connect’s camera capabilities are limited
  • Want contract flexibility — the 3-year mandatory minimum is among the most restrictive in the market
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction and support quality — the 31.6 NPS is a serious warning sign

We chose Verizon Connect because we already had Verizon wireless accounts for our entire company. The bundled billing was convenient but the platform itself is five years behind Samsara. We’re switching when our contract expires.

// Pricing

Verizon Connect pricing and plans

Verizon Connect does not publish pricing publicly. Based on our research and customer reports, base GPS tracking starts at ~$23.50 per vehicle per month, with full fleet management packages reaching $40+/vehicle/month. All pricing requires a 3-year contract commitment.

Component Cost Details
Base GPS tracking ~$23.50/vehicle/mo Real-time GPS, geofencing, trip history, basic reporting
Fleet management suite $30–$40/vehicle/mo GPS, ELD compliance, maintenance, dispatch, reporting
With dash cams $40+/vehicle/mo Video telematics add-on; pricing varies by camera type
Hardware (GPS device) $100–$200 one-time Per vehicle; hardwired installation required
Professional installation $100–$250/vehicle Certified technician required for most hardware types

Additional costs to consider

  • Contract: 36-month minimum. Full remaining balance typically due on early termination. Auto-renewal clauses are common and aggressive
  • Pricing opacity: All pricing is quote-only. Multiple users report the quoted price differs from actual invoice pricing once fees are added
  • Hardware replacement: $100–$250+ per device for damaged or failed units. Professional installation required
  • Volume discounts: Available for 100+ vehicle fleets, but negotiating requires significant effort and existing Verizon Business relationship

Verizon Connect key features

We analyzed Verizon Connect’s core capabilities across six feature areas. Here is what stands out and where the platform falls short.

GPS tracking and real-time visibility

Verizon Connect provides real-time GPS tracking using Verizon’s nationwide cellular network. Location updates are reliable and accurate, benefiting from Verizon’s network infrastructure. The platform includes geofencing, trip history replay, vehicle status monitoring, and idle time tracking. While the tracking functionality is solid, the map interface and dashboard design feel dated compared to Samsara’s modern UI. The update interval is real-time but lacks Samsara’s second-by-second precision.

ELD compliance and HOS tracking

Verizon Connect is FMCSA-certified for electronic logging and provides a full ELD compliance suite including hours of service tracking, driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIR), and roadside inspection mode. The ELD functionality covers all major rulesets and is reliable for compliance purposes. However, the HOS interface is less intuitive than Motive’s driver-friendly ELD app, and automated ruleset switching has been cited as less reliable than best-in-class competitors. (Source: FMCSA ELD Registry)

Dash cameras and video telematics

Verizon Connect offers dash camera options through its Video Intelligence add-on. The cameras provide forward-facing and driver-facing video triggered by harsh events. However, the AI capabilities are limited compared to Samsara’s CM32/CM34 dual-facing AI dash cams and Motive’s AI Omnicam. The video telematics feature set lags 2–3 years behind the current generation of AI-powered camera systems from competing platforms.

Field service and dispatch

One area where Verizon Connect has historically been stronger is field service management. The Verizon Connect Field suite provides job scheduling, dispatching, and customer communication tools integrated with the GPS tracking platform. This is particularly useful for field service organizations managing technicians or service vehicles. However, the field service module requires a separate purchase and has not been modernized significantly in recent years.

Maintenance management

Verizon Connect includes a maintenance module that provides preventive maintenance scheduling, fault code alerts from OBD-II/J1939 diagnostics, and service record tracking. The maintenance features are functional but basic compared to dedicated maintenance platforms like Fleetio. Fleet managers report that the maintenance module requires manual configuration effort and lacks the automated workflow capabilities of more modern solutions.

Reporting and analytics

Verizon Connect provides a reporting suite covering driver safety scores, vehicle utilization, fuel consumption, and compliance reporting. Standard reports are available out of the box, and custom reports can be configured. However, the analytics depth is significantly behind Geotab’s open platform and lacks the intuitive dashboard experience of Samsara. Multiple users report that generating custom reports requires significant technical knowledge and time investment.

Verizon Connect user reviews and ratings

Verizon Connect holds a 3.3/5 on Capterra from 500+ reviews and a 3.5/5 on G2 from 300+ reviews — among the lowest satisfaction scores of any major fleet platform. The 31.6 NPS confirms widespread customer frustration, primarily driven by contract lock-in, support quality, and the gap between sales promises and delivered experience.

Common praise

  • Network reliability: Users acknowledge that GPS tracking is reliable and benefits from Verizon’s nationwide cellular infrastructure
  • Feature breadth: Enterprise users note that the platform covers all the required feature areas even if execution lags competitors
  • Billing consolidation: Existing Verizon Business customers appreciate having fleet tracking on the same Verizon invoice

Common complaints

  • Contract aggression: The most common complaint by far — 3-year contracts with aggressive auto-renewal and high termination fees leave customers feeling trapped
  • Dated interface: Users consistently describe the UI as clunky, outdated, and difficult to navigate compared to Samsara and Motive
  • Support quality: Multiple users report that post-sale support quality drops sharply once contracts are signed, with long hold times and unresolved tickets

Sources: Capterra Verizon Connect reviews, G2 Verizon Connect reviews, and Trustpilot, aggregated March 2026.

The GPS tracking works, I’ll give them that. But the interface looks like it was designed in 2015 and hasn’t been updated since. We’re locked in for another 18 months and the day our contract ends we’re switching to Samsara.

Verizon Connect FAQ

How much does Verizon Connect cost per vehicle?

Verizon Connect does not publish pricing publicly. Based on customer reports, base GPS tracking starts at ~$23.50 per vehicle per month, with full fleet management packages reaching $30–$40/vehicle/month. Adding dash cameras brings costs to $40+/vehicle/month. All pricing requires a 3-year minimum contract. Hardware costs $100–$200 per vehicle plus $100–$250 for professional installation. See our full pricing analysis.

What is Verizon Connect’s contract length?

Verizon Connect requires a 36-month (3-year) minimum contract commitment. Early termination typically requires paying the full remaining contract balance. Contracts auto-renew unless cancelled within a specific window before the renewal date. This contract structure is one of the most frequent customer complaints and should be carefully reviewed before signing.

How does Verizon Connect compare to Samsara?

Samsara scores 9.3/10 vs Verizon Connect’s 7.8/10. Samsara offers a far superior user experience, best-in-class AI dash cams, higher customer satisfaction (75.6 vs 31.6 NPS), and a more modern platform. Both require 3-year contracts at similar pricing. Samsara is the better product for virtually every fleet type — Verizon Connect is only worth considering if you have an existing Verizon Business relationship that provides bundled discounts. See full comparison.

Is Verizon Connect ELD certified?

Yes. Verizon Connect is registered on the FMCSA ELD registry and provides a certified electronic logging solution for hours of service (HOS) compliance. The ELD supports DVIR, HOS ruleset tracking, and roadside inspection data transfer. However, the ELD interface is less driver-friendly than Motive’s, and automated ruleset switching has been cited as less reliable than best-in-class alternatives.

What are the best alternatives to Verizon Connect?

The best alternatives to Verizon Connect are Samsara (9.3/10) for a superior all-in-one platform, Motive (9.0/10) for trucking ELD compliance with 1-year contracts, Geotab (8.7/10) for open-platform data analytics, and GPS Trackit (8.5/10) for budget-conscious fleets. All four score significantly higher on product quality and customer satisfaction. See our full alternatives guide.

What fleet sizes does Verizon Connect support?

Verizon Connect supports fleets from approximately 10 vehicles up to 50,000+ vehicles. The platform is most commonly used by mid-size to large enterprise fleets with 50–5,000 vehicles. Small fleets under 20 vehicles will find the 3-year contract and hardware investment difficult to justify given more affordable alternatives like GPS Trackit or Azuga.

Does Verizon Connect offer dash cameras?

Yes. Verizon Connect offers dash cameras through its Video Intelligence add-on. The cameras provide forward-facing and driver-facing video triggered by harsh events and on-demand video access. However, the AI capabilities are limited compared to Samsara’s CM32/CM34 and Motive’s AI Omnicam — expect fewer automatic behavior detections and less sophisticated real-time coaching than the top-rated camera systems.

Why is Verizon Connect NPS so low?

Verizon Connect’s 31.6 NPS — the lowest among major fleet platforms — reflects widespread customer dissatisfaction driven by several factors: aggressive 3-year contract terms with difficult exit clauses, a user interface that has not kept pace with modern competitors, post-sale support quality that multiple customers describe as poor, and a gap between the sales experience and actual platform capabilities. The NPS is 44 points below Samsara (75.6) and 32 points below Motive (63.4).

Does Verizon Connect have a mobile app?

Yes. Verizon Connect offers mobile apps for both iOS and Android that allow fleet managers and drivers to access GPS tracking, trip history, and alerts on the go. However, the mobile app ratings are lower than competing platforms — the app currently holds approximately 2.5–3.0 stars on both app stores, with users citing slow performance, frequent crashes, and an outdated interface compared to Samsara and Motive’s mobile experiences.

Can Verizon Connect integrate with my existing business software?

Verizon Connect offers API access and integrations with select third-party platforms including maintenance management, payroll, and accounting systems. However, the integration ecosystem is more limited than open platforms like Geotab (4,000+ integrations) or Samsara. Custom integrations typically require working with Verizon’s professional services team, which adds cost and timeline. If deep integration flexibility is a priority, Geotab’s open Marketplace architecture is a stronger choice.

How long does Verizon Connect installation take?

Verizon Connect hardware installation typically takes 30–60 minutes per vehicle for hardwired GPS devices and requires a certified technician. For large fleet deployments (100+ vehicles), Verizon coordinates a phased rollout that can take 2–6 weeks depending on fleet size, vehicle locations, and scheduling. OBD plug-in devices can be self-installed in under 5 minutes but offer less reliable data than hardwired units. Plan for 1–2 weeks of platform setup and configuration after hardware installation.

Is Verizon Connect suitable for government and municipal fleets?

Yes. Verizon Connect is used by numerous government and municipal fleets across the US, benefiting from Verizon’s existing government contracts and GSA schedule pricing. The platform meets federal compliance requirements and Verizon’s brand recognition simplifies procurement approval processes. However, government fleet managers should still evaluate alternatives like Geotab and Samsara, which also hold government contracts and may offer superior technology at comparable pricing through their own GSA schedules.

More about Verizon Connect

Verizon Connect — final verdict

Verizon Connect earns a 7.8/10 and is our recommended choice only for existing Verizon Business enterprise customers who can negotiate bundled fleet pricing into their account. For every other fleet, the combination of a dated platform, mandatory 3-year contracts, poor customer satisfaction (31.6 NPS), and limited AI camera capabilities makes it difficult to recommend over Samsara, Motive, or Geotab. The Verizon brand and network are real assets — the product has simply not kept pace with modern fleet management expectations.
