What you get
- The core fleet KPIs in one table: utilization, cost per mile, MPG, on-time delivery, downtime, PM compliance, and incident rate
- A target column per KPI so each metric is judged against a goal, not in isolation
- Current-period and prior-period columns to show direction of travel
- A simple status indicator (on/off target) for executive scanning
- A worked example populated with a representative month
How to use it
- 1
Choose the handful of KPIs that actually drive your operation — don't track everything.
- 2
Set a target for each KPI based on your history or an industry benchmark.
- 3
Each period, enter the current value and pull the prior period for comparison.
- 4
Mark each KPI on or off target and let the trend column show whether it's improving.
- 5
Review monthly with the team and dig into any KPI that's off target and worsening.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions buyers usually ask once the category, software, or rollout details start getting more specific.
The core set most fleets track: vehicle utilization, cost per mile, fuel economy (MPG), on-time delivery, downtime/uptime, preventive-maintenance compliance, and safety incident rate. Together they cover cost, service, reliability, and risk.
Usually six to eight. A dashboard with thirty metrics gets ignored; a focused set that each ties to a decision gets reviewed. Pick the few that drive your business and leave the rest in detailed reports.
A metric without a target is just trivia. The target turns each number into a judgment — on track or not — and the gap between current value and target is what focuses the team's attention.
Most fleets review the dashboard monthly with operations leadership, with a few real-time metrics (like downtime or open critical defects) watched more frequently. Set a cadence and hold to it.
