Free Tire Rotation Log Template

A tire rotation log that records each rotation, the pattern used, tread depths at each position, and the next-due mileage — so tires wear evenly and last their full life.

What you get

  • A row per rotation with date, odometer, and the rotation pattern applied
  • Tread-depth capture for each wheel position (in 32nds of an inch or millimeters)
  • Next-due mileage tracking and a notes field for uneven-wear flags
  • A worked example showing front-to-rear and cross-rotation patterns
  • A printable layout for the shop bay or the vehicle file

How to use it

  1. 1

Record the unit number, date, and odometer reading at the time of the rotation.

  2. 2

Note the pattern used — front-to-rear, X-pattern, or rearward-cross depends on drivetrain and whether tires are directional.

  3. 3

Measure and log tread depth at each position so you can spot alignment or inflation problems early.

  4. 4

Set the next-due mileage from the interval in your maintenance plan; defer to the manufacturer schedule for the specific cadence.

  5. 5

Flag any position wearing abnormally and route it to alignment or suspension inspection before the next rotation.

Tire Rotation Log Template

Rotation intervals are commonly tied to the oil-change cadence but vary by tire and vehicle — defer to the manufacturer schedule. Directional and staggered-fitment tires limit which patterns are valid.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions buyers usually ask once the category, software, or rollout details start getting more specific.

A

Many fleets rotate at every oil change, but the correct interval depends on the tire, the vehicle, and the duty cycle. Always defer to the manufacturer schedule. Heavily loaded and front-wheel-drive vehicles often need more frequent rotation to keep wear even.

A

It depends on drivetrain and tire type. Non-directional tires on a front-wheel-drive vehicle typically use a forward-cross pattern; rear- and all-wheel-drive use rearward-cross; directional tires only move front-to-rear on the same side. The log captures the pattern so the next rotation continues correctly.

A

Position-by-position tread data reveals problems a single reading hides — inside-edge wear points to alignment, center wear to over-inflation, and one-corner wear to a suspension issue. Catching these early extends tire life and prevents roadside failures.

A

Replace when tread reaches the legal or fleet-policy minimum, when there is irreparable damage, or when wear is too uneven to correct by rotation. Track inventory and replacements in a dedicated tire inventory tracker.
