What you get
- Buyer-focused checks across exterior, under-hood, interior, and a road test
- Red-flag items that signal hidden problems or accident history
- A condition column to rate each area before you negotiate
- Prompts for documentation: title, service history, and VIN check
- Ungated, printable format to take to the inspection
How to use it
- 1
Inspect in daylight on dry ground; a wet car hides paint and body defects.
- 2
Walk the exterior for mismatched panels, overspray, and uneven gaps that suggest repairs.
- 3
Check fluids, belts, and look for leaks; scan for warning lights at start-up.
- 4
Road-test for steering pull, brake feel, transmission shifts, and unusual noises.
- 5
Verify the VIN, title status, and service history before agreeing on price.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions buyers usually ask once the category, software, or rollout details start getting more specific.
For anything but a low-value vehicle, yes. This checklist catches obvious issues, but a qualified mechanic can lift the vehicle, scan codes, and spot problems a walkaround won't reveal.
Mismatched paint or panel gaps (prior accident), milky oil (head-gasket/coolant intrusion), frame rust, inconsistent odometer wear, and a title that doesn't match the VIN.
It's a solid baseline, but auction vehicles are often sold as-is with limited test-drive access. Weight the documentation and VIN/title checks heavily when you can't road-test.
