A rental is short-term (days or weeks) with the owner handling most maintenance and insurance; a lease is long-term (months or years) and typically shifts more responsibility to the lessee. This template is for short-term rentals — use the lease agreement template for longer arrangements.
A dated condition record with photos or a damage diagram at both pickup and return is the cleanest way to resolve disputes over who caused damage. Without it, damage claims become one party's word against the other's.
