A general multi-point vehicle inspection checklist covering exterior, interior, under-hood, and under-vehicle — for routine fleet condition checks.

Built and reviewed by the FleetOpsClub research team. Print the preview free, or get the editable file by email.

What's included

  • Multi-point checks grouped by exterior, under-hood, under-vehicle, and interior
  • A defect column so issues are logged, not just noticed
  • Works for vans, pickups, and light/medium trucks
  • Driver and inspector sign-off fields
  • Printable and ungated for clipboard or tablet use

How to use it

  1. 1

Park on level ground and walk the vehicle clockwise, starting at the driver's door.

  2. 2

Check each grouped item and mark OK or defect.

  3. 3

Lift the hood for fluid and belt checks; look under the vehicle for leaks and damage.

  4. 4

Finish in the cab testing lights, gauges, and safety equipment.

  5. 5

Record defects, sign, and route any safety-critical issue to the shop before the next trip.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions buyers usually ask once the category, software, or rollout details start getting more specific.

A

No. A DVIR is the FMCSA-specified driver's vehicle inspection report for commercial motor vehicles. This general checklist is broader and useful for any fleet vehicle, but commercial operators still need a compliant DVIR.

A

Daily walkaround checks for active commercial vehicles, plus a deeper multi-point inspection at each PM interval. Light-use vehicles can be inspected weekly or before long trips.

A

Drivers can complete the visual and operational items. Anything requiring measurement (brake wear, tread depth below the line) or diagnosis should go to a qualified technician.
