RAM Tracking review and pricing

RAM Tracking is the transparency story in this category with a condition attached. Its pricing page, checked on 30 September 2026, publishes Vehicle Tracking Lite at $14.99 per vehicle per month, the SD dash cam at $28.99, all three Klipboard job-management tiers at $32.99, $45.99 and $65.99 per user per month, and all three bundles. Samsara, Motive, Geotab and Spireon publish none of that. Read the lease agreement alongside it and the picture changes, which is why this page treats the two documents as one offer.

The bundles are where the product makes its best case, and one of them is genuinely odd in the buyer's favour. Essential Fleet pairs Core-equivalent tracking with an SD dash cam at $24.99 per unit per month on a 36-month term, which is $4 a month less than the standalone SD camera at $28.99. For a 25-vehicle fleet that is $624.75 a month for tracking and video together, against $374.75 for Lite tracking alone. Buying the pieces separately in that configuration costs more than buying them together, so get both quotes rather than defaulting to the one you asked for.

Where the numbers get serious is the term, because every bundle price is quoted on 36 months. Advanced Fleet at $72.34 per unit per month across 10 vehicles is $723.40 a month and $26,042 over the term. Fleet and Field Master at $105.27 is $1,052.70 a month on 10 units, which is $37,897 over three years, with the job-management component on a 24-month term inside it. Those are the figures to compare with a rival's quote, not the monthly rate, because the lease terms do not offer a way out of them.

Compliance is an area where RAM is more careful than its competitors, and it deserves credit for it. Its own materials describe the ELD as fully self-certified and listed on the official FMCSA ELD registry, which is the technically correct description, since the agency registers self-certified devices rather than approving or certifying them. The device is listed under the identifier RAMELD and is positioned to meet Canadian ELD rules as well. Two vendors in this set, including One Step GPS, use the phrase FMCSA-approved instead, which does not exist. The product line is deeper than most of this price band. Tracking runs Lite, Core and Plus, where Lite gives two-minute updates, desktop-only access and three months of reporting history, Core moves to one-minute updates with driver behaviour monitoring and three years of history, and Plus adds the RAM Assist driver app with vehicle checks, clock on and off, and breakdown and accident reporting. Cameras run SD, Live Alert and Live Vision, with the top tier adding live streaming and an AI add-on that detects phone use, smoking, drowsiness and driver absence. Klipboard job management covers forms, scheduling, assets and inventory, with accounting integrations from the Innovator tier.

The fit narrows on what is published versus what you will end up buying. Only Lite and the SD camera carry a price. Core, Plus, Live Alert and Live Vision are all quote-only, and those are the tiers a fleet with driver-behaviour or incident-alert requirements will want. So the $14.99 headline describes an entry tier with two-minute updates and desktop-only access, which is not the configuration most buyers end up on. Get the Core or Plus figure in writing before you treat RAM as the cheap option.

What it replaces cleanly: a tracking vendor, a separate dashcam supplier, and a paper job sheet, on one bill. What it does not replace: a maintenance system with parts and work orders, which is a Fleetio job, or the data depth of a telematics platform built for analysis. And what it adds, which nothing else in this price band does, is a finance company as a party to your contract.

RAM Tracking publishes a price list, and it is more detailed than almost any competitor's. Checked on 30 September 2026, the pricing page lists Vehicle Tracking Lite at $14.99 per vehicle per month, Dash Cam SD at $28.99, Klipboard job management at $32.99, $45.99 and $65.99 per user per month, and three bundles: Essential Fleet at $24.99 per unit per month, Advanced Fleet at $72.34 and Fleet and Field Master at $105.27, each quoted on a 36-month term. The published figures are a starting point rather than the total, because the costs that decide this deal sit in the lease document instead. Five things move your real number:

The right to cancel, in the plainest terms any vendor in this category uses. RAM's lease agreement terms open by describing themselves as a non-cancelable, binding contract and state that you may not cancel this lease for any reason, including equipment failure, loss or damage. That is not a notice period or an early-termination fee, it is the absence of an exit. A 25-unit Essential Fleet bundle at $24.99 a month is a $22,491 obligation across its 36-month term, and the document does not describe a route out of it short of RAM's own breach.

Control over who you are contracting with. The arrangement is financed through a separate finance company that is a party to the agreement, which means the entity collecting your payments is not the entity supporting your product. If the hardware fails, the service disappoints or the relationship sours, the payment obligation sits with the lender rather than the vendor, and the lease says so. Ask in writing whether your specific plan is billed as a lease with a finance company attached or as a straightforward monthly service, because the published $14.99 rate does not tell you which.

Predictable cost when something goes wrong. The lease sets late-payment interest at 26.82% a year compounded monthly, adds $75 for each dishonored payment and a $150 initial administration fee, and keeps payments running if equipment is lost, stolen or destroyed until the insurance claim fully resolves. None of those four figures is on the pricing page. They are the numbers a finance director needs before signing, and they are in a document most buyers never open.

Hardware ownership, permanently. Title to the equipment remains with the lessor at all times, the equipment is leased as is, and the lease notes that rental payments total more than the purchase price of the equipment. At the end of the full term, if you neither return the equipment nor exercise a purchase option, the lease renews on a period-to-period basis rather than ending. Compare that with Linxup at $94.99 for a tracker you own, and the structural difference is clearer than the monthly rate suggests.

The published-price advantage, for most real configurations. Lite at $14.99 and the SD camera at $28.99 are the only two individual tiers with a rate. Core, Plus, Live Alert and Live Vision are all quote-only, and those cover one-minute updates, driver behaviour monitoring, the driver app, cloud footage storage and live streaming. A fleet that needs any of those is back to a quote process, so treat $14.99 as the price of two-minute updates on a desktop rather than the price of RAM Tracking.

An independent complaint record to read alongside the lease. A direct search of the Better Business Bureau returns no listing for RAM Tracking, so the documents themselves are the evidence.
