TruckX ELD Review — No Published Price, and Two Things to Check First

TruckX has the largest driver review base of any budget ELD we looked at, and it publishes no subscription price at all — the $30 a month figure everyone quotes is a line from a customer testimonial on its homepage.

Two things belong in any evaluation: an FMCSA-initiated revocation from December 2023 that was never reinstated, and a billing complaint that recurs unchanged across every review platform from 2023 to 2026.

TruckX pricing at a glance

TruckX publishes no ELD subscription rate. Its FAQ pages give industry-wide ranges of $15 to $50 per vehicle per month and explicitly frame them as market context rather than TruckX pricing, and its own rate is described only as 'competitive monthly rates'.

The store where prices would live returns an error to us.

The single TruckX-specific figure on the site appears inside a testimonial attributed to a named customer: 'Starting at only $30 a month, per truck.' That is a quoted customer, not a price list, and it is almost certainly the origin of the $30 figure now repeated across affiliate review sites.

Third-party sources give $15, $18 and $30 — they cannot all be correct, and none is vendor-confirmed.

TruckX publishes no price. Checked on September 30, 2026. See what the vendor shows TruckX publishes no ELD subscription rate: there is no live pricing page on truckx.com — the /pricing/ URL is gone (HTTP 404). The homepage line "Starting at only $30 a month, per truck" sits inside a named customer testimonial rather than a rate card, which is why it is not treated as a published price.

What TruckX does publish

The accessory pricing is real and specific. On the two-channel dashcam: $4 a month for live GPS only, $10 a month for live video plus GPS, $10 a month for an extra driver-facing camera, $10 a month for insurance APIs, and $49 for a 128GB SD card.

On the four-channel Pro: $5 a month each for ADAS and DMS events, and $3 a month for an extra side camera.

Sensors are $29 of hardware plus $49 a year each, for both the temperature and humidity sensor and the door sensor. These are the numbers to build a comparison from, because they are the only ones TruckX actually states.

The guarantee and the Terms do not agree

TruckX's homepage advertises a 30-Day Money Guarantee. Its Terms and Conditions state that TruckX 'reserves the right to authorize, but Customer does not have a right to, a full refund of any Hardware purchase made where a refund is requested within five (5) days', and separately that 'the subscriptions must be paid in advance and are non-refundable'.

Those are materially different promises. A five-day discretionary hardware window is not a thirty-day money-back guarantee, and the Terms govern.

Get whichever one you are relying on written into your agreement.

The free device is a lease, and cancellation has a deadline

TruckX's Terms describe the free Bluetooth ELD as hardware you 'must return to TruckX within thirty days if TruckX requests you do so', with a $150 per device charge if it is not returned, lost or damaged.

Renewal is automatic and stopping it requires written notice by email at least seven days before the renewal date. That deadline is the mechanism behind most of the billing complaints below, so diary it the day you sign.

Where TruckX fits

TruckX is a credible budget ELD with genuinely responsive front-line support and a large, active driver base — and a commercial process that a buyer should read carefully before signing. The product complaints are ordinary. The billing complaints are not: they are specific, consistent across five independent platforms, and span three years. Buy it with the cancellation terms in writing.

TruckX is best for

TruckX fits an owner-operator or small carrier who wants inexpensive compliance with responsive phone support, particularly one who would rather speak to someone in Punjabi, Hindi or Spanish than work through an English-only helpdesk. It fits less well where procurement needs a published price to compare, or where nobody will reliably track a seven-day cancellation deadline.

Why TruckX stands out

Support responsiveness is the most consistent praise theme across every platform, and it is specific rather than generic — reviewers name individual agents. Multilingual support in English, Spanish, Hindi, Punjabi and Russian is a genuine differentiator for a customer base that other vendors serve poorly. The hardware range is also unusually broad for a budget vendor, covering Bluetooth and wired ELDs, dashcams, asset trackers and sensors.

Commercial fit for TruckX

The product is not the risk here; the paperwork is. Praise concentrates on front-line support and complaints concentrate on billing and escalation, which is a recognisable pattern in a company that has grown its support function faster than its back office. Evaluate it as you would any vendor with an auto-renewing contract and no published price: get the rate, the term and the cancellation mechanics in writing before you buy.

TruckX pros and cons

This is the point in the evaluation where buyers should separate what sounds strong in the demo from what will still matter after implementation, reporting setup, and day-two administration are real.

Where it earns attention

These are the strengths most likely to keep TruckX in the running once the team starts comparing practical fit, not just headline features.

Strength

The largest genuine driver review base in the budget ELD segment

The driver app holds 4.72 across 2,709 App Store ratings and a comparable figure across roughly 2,260 Google Play ratings. Whatever the caveats below, a pool that size means the product is in real daily use at scale, which is more than can be said for several competitors whose entire review footprint is a few dozen ratings.

Support responsiveness is the consistent praise theme on every platform

Capterra, SoftwareFinder, Trustpilot and both app stores all surface the same point: TruckX answers the phone and resolves issues quickly. Reviewers routinely name individual agents. TruckX claims 24/7 availability, and while we cannot verify the hours independently, the volume and consistency of the praise makes responsiveness credible.

Strength

Multilingual support that matches its actual customer base

English, Spanish, Hindi, Punjabi and Russian, per TruckX's own multilingual support page. For owner-operators who are not comfortable working a compliance problem through English at the roadside, that is a substantive advantage and not a marketing line — the reviewer names on TruckX's own review pages reflect exactly that demographic.

Strength

Broad, specific and actually priced accessory range

Bluetooth and wired ELDs, two and four channel dashcams, four asset tracker variants, and temperature and door sensors — with published prices for the add-ons. In a category where nothing is priced, $4 a month for live GPS and $29 plus $49 a year for a sensor are unusually concrete numbers to plan against.

Strength

Full compliance scope with wide connector support

HOS with violation alerts, electronic DVIR with defect management and diagnostic trouble codes, automated quarterly IFTA, live GPS and geofencing. The Bluetooth ELD One covers 6, 9, 14 and 16-pin OBD-II connectors with adapter cables included, which is broader connector coverage than most competitors ship in the box.

These are the points worth pressing in pricing calls, technical validation, and rollout planning before the team treats the product as a safe choice.

An FMCSA-initiated revocation in December 2023 that was never reinstated

TruckX-ELD, model XELD, identifier TRX927, was removed from FMCSA's registered list effective 1 December 2023 as one of ten devices withdrawn for failing 49 CFR Part 395 subpart B appendix A. Carriers had until 30 January 2024 to replace. Two of that batch were later reinstated; TruckX was not. It is important to state this precisely: TruckX has since registered three newer devices — TXELD4, TRX300 and TRXW20 — so saying TruckX is unregistered today would be wrong. But the revoked model stays revoked, and buyers of used TruckX hardware should check the identifier on the unit.

Billing after cancellation is the most consistent complaint, across five platforms and three years

Reviewers on BBB, Trustpilot, Capterra, SoftwareFinder and the App Store describe the same experience: charges continuing after a cancellation request. Trustpilot's only one-star review, dated February 2026, states that the reviewer cancelled in November 2024 and was still being told the subscription would auto-renew in February 2026. Capterra and Software Advice carry disputes over specific sums of $540 and $324. TruckX's BBB profile shows a C rating, no accreditation, two complaints in three years and a listed factor of 'failure to respond to 1 complaint'. These are reviewer accounts rather than findings, but the consistency over three years is what makes them worth acting on.

No published price, and the one circulating figure is a testimonial

You cannot price-compare TruckX from its website. The $30 a month figure that appears across affiliate review sites traces to a customer quotation on TruckX's homepage, and third-party sources otherwise disagree at $15, $18 and $30. The store that would carry real pricing returns an error.

The dashcam does not behave like a live dashcam in one important respect

An App Store reviewer in December 2025 reports having to physically remove the memory card to retrieve video, and that the SOS button records only about thirteen seconds. If the dashcam is being bought for insurance defence, confirm the retrieval path and the event clip length before relying on it — that is the use case those two limitations most directly undercut.

Aggregate ratings are inflated by solicited reviews, and the fleet app tells a different story

Trustpilot shows 4.9 across 303 reviews with 99% five-star, which is far out of line with Capterra at 3.9, SoftwareFinder at 3.6 and BBB at 1.0, and the corpus is dominated by one-line praise naming individual support agents — the signature of review solicitation at the support desk. The more honest signal is the fleet manager app, which sits at 4.28 across 113 iOS ratings and lower on Android, well below the driver app.

TruckX platform and deployment

Getting the FMCSA position right

TruckX currently holds three registrations: TruckX ELD 4.0 (model TX004, identifier TXELD4), TruckX ELD One (TX300, TRX300) and TruckX ELD Pro (WELD, TRXW20).

None appears on the revoked list. The December 2023 revocation applied to the older XELD under identifier TRX927 and has never been reversed.

Two smaller points are worth knowing. TruckX does not publish its ELD identifier anywhere on its site or in its public driver manuals, though drivers are expected to have it available at an inspection.

And its marketing describes the product as 'FMCSA Approved' — FMCSA does not approve or endorse ELDs, providers self-certify and register.

Model numbers on the website do not match the registry

TruckX's downloads page lists its ELDs as TRX-ONE, TRX-PRO and TRX-WELD. FMCSA records the corresponding models as TX300, WELD and XELD.

TruckX's own ELD One manual is titled 'Model TX300', contradicting the TRX-ONE on its downloads page for the same product.

The practical consequence is that a carrier cannot map a purchased device to its FMCSA record from TruckX's website. Ask for the identifier in writing at purchase.

Hardware and requirements

The Bluetooth ELD One covers 6, 9, 14 and 16-pin OBD-II connectors with complementary adapter cables for the 6, 9 and 14-pin variants, includes a 4G SIM, and carries a one-year warranty. A phone or tablet is required, on Android or iOS.

A wired option ships with a seven-inch in-cab tablet rated IP66. Note that TruckX's own page for the wired product now returns an error, so confirm current availability directly.

What the review split actually tells you

Read the driver app and the fleet app separately. Drivers rate the logbook app highly and consistently; fleet managers rate the back office markedly lower, and reviewers specifically note that the fleet app cannot do things the web console can, including entering fuel for IFTA.

That split is consistent with the wider picture: TruckX is strong at the point where a driver needs help and weaker at the point where a manager needs administration.

Evaluating TruckX before a demo

There is no published price, so the whole evaluation happens inside a quote and a contract. Two documents matter more than the demo.

Get the monthly rate per truck in writing, with the term length and the exact renewal date. Do not rely on the $30 figure; it is a customer quotation, not a price list.

Read the cancellation clause before signing and diary the deadline. TruckX's Terms require written notice by email at least seven days before renewal, and that deadline is the mechanism behind the billing complaints on every review platform.
