Optima ELD publishes no subscription price, no hardware price, and no accessory price anywhere we could find — not even the vague industry ranges TruckX's FAQ pages give. The 'Pricing' page at optimaeld.

com/pricing/ is a WordPress multi-step contact form: pick a product from ELD Compliance, GPS Tracking, Dashcam, Dispatch, Tablets or IFTA Reporting, pick a fleet size from five bands, then accept the Terms and Conditions. No number appears at any step.

That makes Optima's pricing opacity more complete than TruckX's, which at least lists specific dashcam and sensor prices. Everything here is quote-only, gated behind the same form that requires accepting a Terms of Service most buyers will not read before submitting.

"Contract-Free" on the homepage, a 12-month term in the Terms

Optima's homepage lists 'Contract-free' as one of eight bullet points under 'User-friendly, Innovative, and Affordable ELD Solution'. Section 9.

1 of its Terms of Service, titled 'Default Terms', states: 'Application Subscription agreement will be for a Term of 12 months... If Customer desires cancellation of service, Customer must notify Provider in writing via email or written correspondence more than 30 days prior to the beginning of the next term cycle.

Otherwise, the subscription will be automatically renewed.' Section 5.

1 confirms the renewal period is one full year.

These default terms apply whenever an Order Form does not specify otherwise, per the Terms' own language. A homepage bullet point is not a contract term, and the Terms of Service is the document a customer actually signs — so the honest description is a 12-month term with automatic annual renewal, not the absence of a contract.

Two more Default Terms buyers should read before signing

The same section 9.1 adds a 3% surcharge on credit card payments, a requirement to return hardware within 30 days of receipt if you cancel, and a 30% restocking fee deducted from the customer's account on any hardware return.

None of these appear on the marketing pages.

Section 8.3 caps Optima's total liability at the fees the customer paid in the preceding six months, and gives either party one year from discovering a claim to bring it.

Section 10.5 sets the governing law and venue as Illinois, despite Optima's FMCSA-listed address being in Saint Petersburg, Florida — worth knowing before a dispute makes it relevant.

"FMCSA Approved" is the same imprecise claim most ELD vendors make

Optima's homepage lists 'FMCSA approved' as a feature. FMCSA does not approve, certify, or endorse ELDs; providers self-certify their own devices and register them, and FMCSA can later remove a registration if a device fails testing.

Optima's registration itself is real and current — see the FMCSA section below — the marketing language is just describing that as something it is not.

Where Optima ELD fits

Optima ELD is a genuinely FMCSA-registered provider with a clean regulatory record, sold through a marketing site whose central pricing claim is contradicted by its own contract. 'Contract-Free' on the homepage and a 12-month auto-renewing term in section 9.1 of the Terms of Service cannot both be true, and the Terms are what a customer actually signs. There is no iOS app, no price published anywhere, and no listing on BBB or the review platforms we could reach — meaning the only customer voices available before you sign are three testimonials on Optima's own homepage. Get the actual term length, the renewal date and the cancellation deadline in writing before you commit.

Optima ELD is best for

Optima ELD fits a small fleet that wants a straightforward, currently-registered ELD and is comfortable getting the actual term length and cancellation window in writing rather than relying on the homepage's 'contract-free' framing. It fits less well where a buyer needs any published number to build a comparison, or wants to check independent reviews before signing — neither exists here.

Why Optima ELD stands out

Optima's FMCSA registration is genuine, current, and has no revocation history in either the 2023 or the mid-2026 snapshot of FMCSA's list — a cleaner record than several better-known competitors. The legal entity behind it, MBM Optima Tech Inc, matches exactly between the FMCSA registry and the company's own Terms of Service, which is not something every small ELD provider gets right.

Commercial fit for Optima ELD

There is nothing to compare Optima against on price, because no price exists outside a quote request that requires accepting the Terms first. The product risk looks low — a real, tested, never-revoked registration — but the commercial risk is entirely in the paperwork: a 'contract-free' claim the Terms directly contradict, a 30% restocking fee, and a cancellation window that opens only in the 30 days before each annual renewal. Read section 9.1 before the demo, not after the invoice.

Optima ELD (model OPTELD, identifier OPTIMA, software 3.12.0 and higher) is currently registered to MBM Optima Tech Inc of Saint Petersburg, Florida. We checked it against FMCSA's revoked-device list in two separate snapshots roughly three years apart and found no match either time — a cleaner history than TruckX, Netradyne or IntelliShift, all of which have at least one self- or FMCSA-initiated revocation on record.

Strength

The registered entity and the contracting entity are the same company

FMCSA's registry lists the provider as 'MBM OPTIMA TECH'; Optima's own Terms of Service name the contracting party as 'MBM Optima Tech INC'. That consistency matters more than it sounds — several competitors' own website model numbers do not match what FMCSA has on file for the same product.

Strength

Core compliance features are present and specifically described

GPS tracking with geofencing, electronic DVIR, automated IFTA reporting, and paperless log transfer via wireless web service or email — Optima's FMCSA test documentation specifically describes drivers initiating a data transfer through a 'one-touch' DOT Inspection tab, which is a concrete, checkable claim rather than a generic feature list.

A prospective buyer relying on the homepage bullet point would sign a document that says the opposite of what they were told.

The entire pricing page is a lead form gated behind Terms and Conditions acceptance. Even TruckX, which does not publish an ELD rate either, publishes specific dashcam and sensor prices; Optima publishes none of its six listed product lines.

A search of the U.S. App Store for 'optima eld', 'optimaeld' and 'optima logbook' returned zero matches across all three queries (46, 41 and 42 results respectively, none of them Optima). An Android app appears in Google's own Play Store search index under the package org.optimaeld, but Google blocks automated fetches of Play Store detail pages closely enough that we could not independently pull its rating — the same block affected a direct test against a known, definitely-live competitor app, so this is a fetch limitation rather than evidence about Optima's Android app specifically. Either way, drivers on iPhones cannot use this product at all.

No BBB listing, and no independent reviews we could locate

A direct BBB search for 'Optima ELD' returned zero results. We could not reach Capterra, G2 or Trustpilot's search pages directly to confirm a listing either way, and general web search turned up none. The only customer voices available before signing are three testimonials on Optima's own homepage, none of which we could independently verify against a third-party platform.

Section 9.1's Default Terms add a 3% surcharge for paying by credit card and a 30% restocking fee deducted from the customer's account on any hardware return, on top of a 30-day return window. None of this appears on the homepage or the pricing quiz — it surfaces only in the Terms of Service.

One caution for buyers doing their own comparison shopping: FMCSA's registry lists a second, entirely unrelated product also called 'Apollo ELD' from a different company in Doral, Florida, and yet another product marketed under the Apollo name by a GPS-tracking reseller whose own driver manual carries a different identifier that we could not find in FMCSA's registry at all. None of that involves Optima, but it illustrates why checking the exact identifier on the device you are buying, not just the brand name on the box, is worth the two minutes it takes.

What the pricing quiz actually asks

Step one: pick a product from ELD Compliance, GPS Tracking, Dashcam, Dispatch, Tablets or IFTA Reporting. Step two: pick a fleet size band from 1-4, 5-19, 20-50, 51-99 or 100+.

Step three: accept the Terms and Conditions and submit contact details. At no point does a number appear.

That six-product list is also the first place a visitor learns Optima sells dispatch software and tablets at all — the homepage's own 'Our Products' section only mentions ELD devices, GPS devices and 24/7 support.

Reading the Default Terms before you sign

If a customer takes possession of hardware and does not return a signed Order Form within 30 days, section 9.1 says the Default Terms apply automatically.

Those terms are a 12-month subscription starting the 1st of the month after purchase or possession, more-than-30-days'-written-notice cancellation ahead of each renewal, a 3% card-payment surcharge, and a 30% restocking fee on any hardware return within the 30-day window.

Section 8.3 limits Optima's total liability to six months of fees paid and gives either party one year to bring a claim.

Section 10.5 sets Illinois as the governing law and dispute venue, notwithstanding Optima's Florida address on the FMCSA registration.

Evaluating Optima ELD before a demo

There is no published price and the homepage's central commercial claim does not match the contract. Two things are worth settling before the quote call turns into an invoice.

Ask directly whether your Order Form will specify a term length, or whether the 12-month Default Terms in section 9.1 will apply. Get the actual renewal date in writing, not the homepage's 'contract-free' framing.

Confirm the cancellation mechanism: more than 30 days' written notice before the next annual term begins. Diary that date the day you sign, the same way TruckX buyers need to diary a seven-day window.
