Free Fleet Telematics — Vehicle Diagnostics and Driver Data at Zero Cost

Free telematics is useful for one thing: discovering what data your vehicles can actually provide before you pay for a platform that analyzes it. Connect a free OBD-II reader to your vehicle and see what data points come through. Some vehicles expose 200+ parameters (RPM, coolant temp, fuel level, DTC codes). Others expose only location and basic speed. Knowing your vehicle fleet's data capability before you shop prevents buying a platform that promises predictive maintenance on vehicles that only report location.

The gap between free and paid telematics is wider than in most fleet categories. Free tiers give you raw data — location pings, fault code numbers, idle time.
